This week I started experimenting with creating my first video player. Since I am new with max I took some time watching and rewatching both of the tutorials to make sure I can really understand the concepts. I also took a look at all of the examples on github and tried to play around with them. I like to take my time when I start learning a new program and I prefer watching tutorials and looking at examples in the beginning because I’ve felt a lot of times at ITP that I focus so much on making something that I sometimes miss some of the basic principles/rules of the program and then it’s too hard to go back. This week I felt like we are moving a little bit too fast so I just tried to create a simple example based of the “jump to random frame” example and the video tutorials controlling saturation, brightness and contrast and adding a video menu.

For this assignment, I took a walk around the city during the weekend and captured several different “moments” that I found interesting. I really enjoyed it because I started paying attention to things around me more as I was walking. At times, I was frustrated because I felt like there was nothing interesting for me to capture especially during the morning. I wanted to play with lights and natural movements so most of the footage I took was at night time. I moved my camera around intuitively just kind of following the lights and the movements. I uploaded some gifs of my actual footage below:
